    All Directive Systems antennas may be combined or "stacked" for higher gain. Antenna gain increases at a rate of about 2.2 dB per each doubling of boom length. When the physical constraints of a long boom become overwhelming,  it is a simple matter to add a similar antenna and combine the two in phase for almost 3 dB of additional gain. At microwave frequencies it is very important to have a low loss phasing harness with low residual VSWR.  Any loss here will reduce the near 3 dB stacking gain. In addition, variations in electrical length of the inter-connecting cables, can cause serious problems at microwave frequencies.
    Directive Systems routinely builds phasing harness assemblies from 50 MHz through 3.5 GHz.  Electrical phase length tolerance is maintained at 5 degrees at 3.5 GHz and about 2 degrees at 1.3 GHz.  Harnesses are tested on a Hewlett Packard 8753D 6 GHz network analyzer. All harnesses are measured and the results are tabulated in a factory database for future reference should any future need arise.
