Directive Systems New Building

New Building Expansion (taken in January 2003): New pictures added 3/2005

Several pictures of the construction work done at Directive Systems in 1999 and 2000. Our original shop was very small. So small, that when we turned around with a piece of aluminum tubing, everyone had to duck. We lost lots of fluorescent lamp tubes doing that as well!! When the building addition was finished in the Fall of 2000, there were two floors of production and lab space added, each of approximately 24 X 24 feet. In addition a storage area of 12 X 24 feet will house raw materials. The first floor production area is visible in the lower lefthand picture. This added area increased our floor space by over 150%.

Here are a few more pictures of the new lab area upstairs and some of our "helpers".

This view of the completed shop is taken from the same spot as the above it and to the left picture was shot. The boom drilling area is in the left foreground. Drill presses are located in the new addition area along with the chop saw and some assembly areas. Two shears for trimming loops and making small brackets are visible in the immediate right foreground. The cart is used for moving materials through the production process.

This is one of several assembly benches located on the bottom floor area. Small items such as connector assemblies or cable harnesses could be made at this position. It also serves as a great work area for repairing electronic items. (The bench is an antistatic workstation.)

This is the office area, a small cubicle located in the downstairs area just off the production floor. The rack of printers on the left is set up for different printing operations. There is a printer for shipping labels, a printer for invoices, and one for envelopes. In addition there are HP Laser and Color inkjet printers for graphics. Not visible are the FAX machine and Xerox copier on the right.

Here is a shot looking into the new production area. One of our esteemed Directive Systems employees is seen here preparing to drill an antenna boom. There is a set of rails to form a track under the drillpress. The individual drilling fixtures are fitted with hardened drill guides, and all set with rollers that can roll easily along the track for rapid and precise hole drilling. A box with 5760 MHz dish feeds can be seen on the cart in the foreground. It is being worked on with parts being made on the engine lathe just off camera to the right.
